Story
The SMA UK charity cycle ride is an annual event raising money for those with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare and debilitating neuromuscular condition, and every year does a fantastic job at helping those with this complex condition.
In order to raise money for this brilliant charity Ali, Ali, Matt and Guy have decided to do their 100 mile cycle ride from Great Ormond Street Hospital to a pub in the Cotswolds. On Boris Bikes… The hope being that the more difficult we make the challenge, the more generously our family and friends will be inclined to support SMA UK
Fiendishly difficult to pedal any great distance or get up to any reasonable speed, the Santander Cycle weighs in at 50 lbs (23kgs), has chunky tyres, three (very low) gears and an extremely un-aerodynamic riding position, making it very poor at maintaining speed. To complete the challenge we will need to set off somewhere around 4am from Great Ormond Street Hospital in order to make it to the finish line.
SMA UK does some amazing work for people with SMA, and any support you can offer for our silly (but most probably quite difficult/painful) challenge would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks! Ali, Ali, Matt and Guy
