Story
I’m taking part in the Pier to Pier Swim for the British Heart Foundation this year in memory of my Dad, who died suddenly from a heart attack 10 years ago.
A decade feels impossible. We still miss him every single day.
There isn’t a family gathering that goes by where we don’t wonder what it would be like to still have him with us. Since he’s been gone, he has missed three grandchildren being born, a wedding, and so many special moments that I know he would have absolutely loved to be part of. The thought of that never really gets easier.
I wanted to do something meaningful to mark the 10-year anniversary of losing him — something that reflects both the love we still have for him and the hope that other families might be spared the same heartbreak.
That’s why I’m supporting the British Heart Foundation.
The research they fund is vital. Medical breakthroughs don’t just happen — they’re made possible by the dedication of researchers and the generosity of supporters. Every donation helps fund life-saving research into heart and circulatory diseases, giving families the chance to hold on to their loved ones for longer than we were able to.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it would mean so much to me and my family. Every penny raised goes towards supporting people affected by heart conditions and funding the research that saves lives.
Thank you for reading, for remembering my Dad with us, and for helping turn loss into hope.
