Hello Friends and Family,

I am starting a fundraiser for my half marathon run at the end of May in Ottawa! I have chosen to fundraise for Childhood Cancer Canada. The reason I picked this organization is because everyone has had someone affected by cancer. Speaking for myself, I’ve already lost far too many people to cancer who left this world too soon. While some have been able to fight and win the battle, it often comes at a great cost. One of the many stressors of fighting cancer is the financial burden. Many treatments are not covered, meaning families often have to pay out of pocket.

I’ve chosen to focus on Childhood Cancer specifically because of my involvement with children as a teacher, and I can’t imagine the pain of a family or child battling cancer. No child or family should have to go through that.

My fundraising goal is set at $2,110, and I know it’s a lot to ask of family and friends, but my thought is that it equals $100 for each kilometer of the race. Anything that you can donate is greatly appreciated.
