Story
Violence against women and girls is on the rise in the UK and accounts for 20% of police recorded crime in England and Wales.
Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre is committed to ensuring no woman or girl subjected to sexual violence has to cope alone.
Right now, they are supporting hundreds of survivors of sexual violence and abuse whose support needs have hugely intensified due to the impacts of the pandemic, cost-of-living crisis, collapse of the Criminal Justice System and severely reduced access to statutory mental health services.
Their life-saving and life-changing services are essential for these women and girls as they struggle to maintain their well-being and capacity to cope during these difficult times.
I believe that it shouldn't be left to those who have experienced this first hand to advocate for themselves and raise money for these support systems, when it is already so difficult to come forward publicly about these experiences.
To show my support and help them ensure they can be there for survivors both now and in the future, I'm taking on the Cambridge Half Marathon to raise funds to support their crucial work.
Any and all donations to support me in my challenge will make a huge difference in enabling them to ensure no woman or girl has to cope alone with impacts of sexual violence and abuse.
Thank you!
