Hi friends
For the second year in a row, I will be taking part in the Saucony London 10k on 12 July 2026 to raise funds for Da'aro Youth Project.
Da'aro Youth Project does vital work towards the well-being and empowerment of young asylum seekers and refugees in the UK, particularly from East Africa / Horn of Africa.
If you know me, you know that I have firsthand experience of navigating the UK and global immigration systems. No minor or young person should have to navigate that alone. Organisations like Da'aro are important because they're run by people who understand the difficulties of these often hostile environments, and who are dedicated to making sure young people are getting the support they need.
Despite what we see on the news everyday, everyone has the right to seek sanctuary in the face of danger and economic and social collapse. Taking the brave step to leave your home and your family is one of the hardest things anyone can do, and unfortunately, the hardship doesn't end when you reach your destination. With the implementation of new immigration laws, a growing anti-immigration movement, and systemic hostility towards black and brown people, it's harder than ever for asylum seekers to find support and stability.
