Story
I’m a research fellow at Oxford University studying Alzheimer’s disease and I’m running the half marathon to help raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
I use computer tools to analyse huge amounts of data— protein, DNA, brain scans, and patient records—to understand how Alzheimer’s disease develops. By studying patterns in data, we can identify risk factors, track disease progression, and even discover new drug targets.
My current project focuses on investigating protein profiles using machine learning to understand whether changes could predict dementia. This data could be used together as a vitally needed biomarker for diagnosis or to further understand how dementia develops in people.
Nearly a million people are living with dementia in the UK today. Working in dementia research, I see the urgent need to change this reality. Every person affected by dementia deserves access to timely diagnosis, effective treatments, and proper support.
