Story

Our story sadly has loss, has happiness, and helpfully has hope thanks to Pregnancy Crisis Care 💜

Fern and I met in our mature 30’s… I use that expression for age more than being sensible… but throw in a pesky pandemic and by the time it was right for us to start a family we were touching late 30’s!

2021 started our pregnancy story off in mixed fashion. From the depths of losing our first pregnancy April 🩷 we were so thankful to receive help from PCC navigating something no one initially expects. The warmth the kindness, the tools to move forward were so valuable, and then by the end of the year, Jago was starting to cook! Mixed emotions, the relief, the happiness, the anxiety, and PCC stayed with us throughout - supporting us right through the pregnancy (even if it did end 6 weeks prematurely) and into 2022 where our rainbow boy arrived!

3 years of adjustment, a little sleep deprivation (although genuinely fortunate with his good sleeping), and 2025 has us working on making Jago a sibling. But life again had other ideas with the loss of Violet in May that year. Crushing. Then, the pain compounded by Molar Pregnancy complications that required Ferns health to be monitored right out until October with the added anguish that surrounded that. With us again to build on the difficult lessons we’d learnt in 2021, PCC 💜. Again committed to us, to building on what they’d supported us with before, being able to adjust to the unique circumstance, the differences of this loss to the first.

2026, and history is repeating itself, pregnant again relatively quickly after a loss. Hope, that perhaps we’d had our misfortune again and now we would be able to enjoy a positive pregnancy experience as we did with Jago. We can’t have more hurt, surly?

And sadly, yes, and that is what has led us here.

In February this year we suffered our 3rd miscarriage out of 4 pregnancies. This is an unimaginably painful reality. It’s a stark truth. It feels to us a blunt unfairness. But this is where we are. And here again, for their 3rd rodeo with Fern and I, are PCC. I’m not sure where we would be without them, particularly this time. The fact we have been able to access their support 3 times, free of charge is incredible. We genuinely can’t put into words how vital it has been for us. Friends and family have of course been there for us, and will know of our pain intimately, but to have the extra support of professional, caring and dedicated people has been invaluable.

I’ve done events in the past and asked for support for other organisations that mean a great deal to me. Like those other organisations, PCC are funded solely on grants and donations, and the fact they aren’t funded through Government sources is unfortunate. But we can make a difference. On the 17th May, I’m doing the Plymouth half as part of a team of other people who have their PCC stories, we’re all on a journey and would all be most grateful for any donations to support PCC to support those who will tragically follow Fern and I with there own pregnancy losses and crisises and need the support of PCC 💜
