Story
On the 6th of June 2026, I’ll be running Endure24 in Reading — a 24-hour race, where the aim is to run an 8km trail loop over and over again until either the event ends or your soul briefly leaves your body.
Context: As I write this on 30th January, my legs ache more than they should from the slow and steady 5km run I did yesterday. So yes, this going to be a challenge - physically and mentally.
I’m doing this to raise money for Sport in Mind, a charity that uses sport to support mental health — something I care about deeply. Running hasn’t fixed my brain (tragic), but it has helped me live with it. Some days running feels good, some days it feels impossible, but no run affects my mental health negatively.
This challenge isn’t about smashing PBs or pretending I’m some ultra-runner (or a runner even!). It’s about dragging myself forward when my body says “stop” and my brain says "you can't do this" or "you’re an idiot for trying” - which, coincidentally, is also a pretty good description of mental health battles.
If you donate, you’ll be supporting an amazing charity and increasing the odds that I keep running at 3am purely out of guilt, pride, and the knowledge that people are watching.
Every pound helps. Every share helps. And if nothing else, you’ll be funding a very public lesson in overconfidence and naivety.
Thank you ❤️ Mike
