Story
I'm fundraising for Cancer Research UK by running my first Ultramarathon.
I work for a company that manufactures radiotherapy machines, and like many, I have family and friends who have been impacted by cancer, so Cancer Research UK is a cause close to my heart.
I turned 60 in October, and as a birthday present my daughters (perhaps seeking an early inheritance!) kindly gifted me an entry to the Race to the King, which is an Ultramarathon almost passing by my doorstep in June 2026.
I've run marathons before, but never any further... so ....decisions... decisions......50km, 80km or 100km....that was quite the question.
So after some thought (OK...and perhaps a beer) I decided why not give it a go....100km here we come! GULP!
Hopefully....
Maybe....
Perhaps....
I have no idea how one trains for such a thing (advice welcome!), but will be updating regularly.
Strangely, having committed to going for it, I'm now very much looking forward to it.
If you can, please give generously, it is for a great cause.
