Story
Dear friends,
As some of you may know, in January this year, I started my training to become a listening volunteer at The Listening Place (TLP), a charity very close to my heart.
TLP provides free, ongoing, face-to-face support for people who feel life is no longer worth living. In the UK, we lose someone to suicide every 75 minutes and it is the leading cause of death in men under the age of 50 and in all adults under 35. Despite this, effective support is hard to find. The Listening Place meets this need by providing a completely confidential and non-judgmental service, and helps those who are struggling access support incredibly fast. TLP aims to make contact within 24 hours of an inquiry and offers a first appointment within 7 days. It is also deeply grounded in the belief that anyone can feel suicidal and there is no need to have a formal mental health diagnosis.
All of this is only possible with the help of generous funding and donations of course.
I am very excited to be running Hackney Half with TLP this May & hope to do my small part in raising awareness and funds to support this incredible organisation.
Any support at all you would be able to give would be hugely appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!
Cäcilie
