Geordie's 10km for Da'aro Youth Project

Geordie Milne is raising money for Da'aro Youth Project

Saucony London 10k 2026 · 12 July 2026 ·

Set up by the Eritrean community in London in 2018 we help traumatised unaccompanied young asylum seekers and refugees from the Horn of Africa, providing a warm welcome in a safe space, a refuge from the hostile environment, mentoring and advocacy, and a range of wholesome empowering activities.

Story

I am taking part in the Saucony London 10k 2026 because I am passionate about Da'aro Youth Project and raising money to support the incredible services they provide.

I first started volunteering for Da'aro Youth Project in 2019 helping facilitate the Injera Club, which provided a safe space and community for unaccompanied teenage asylum seekers from the Horn of Africa, at Knights Youth Centre in South London.

Since then, the project has gone from strength to strength, growing the number of youth clubs and continuing their work providing casework advocacy and now providing mentorship.

I have seen firsthand how transformative their services are for the lives of young people who have experienced terrifying and traumatic journeys to reach the UK. Da'aro Youth Project represents community, hope and belonging.
