Hey friends,

I am running the Cheltenham Half Marathon this September to raise money for the Sue Ryder Hospice. They were a massive support to mum in her final months.

As you all know, my beloved mum, Jill, passed away in February. One of her wishes was to spend her last days with us at Sue Ryder, and it was the most beautiful place for her to be at the end. They gave her the care she needed, beyond what I would have been able to give. During mum’s last months, as her cancer progressed, the team at Sue Ryder also provided invaluable home support. They came every day to support her, in whatever way she needed, from medical needs to emotional ones. They gave us both essential guidance on end-of-life care and next steps.

I will never forget the dignity with which they treated mum. They always went above and beyond, pampering mum and making her as comfortable as possible. They never rushed her, or me, during that difficult time. I’d like to give back to them by helping them provide the same level of care for other families.

I will be attempting to run the race — and hopefully not cry the whole way. I’d appreciate any support you can give, and I’m sure mum would have, too! And do come along on Sunday, September 21st if you can :)
