Support for refugees & asylum seekers in Bradford living in the Bradford District – A City of Sanctuary

The Bradford District has a proud history of welcoming refugees fleeing humanitarian crises and war torn zones.  The refugee crisis in Syria and other parts of the world is likely to lead to more people seeking sanctuary here.

Bradford City of Sanctuary  supports organisations who are providing vital assistance to refugees and asylum seekers across the district. Most of it’s members also work with these groups, all of which rely on the goodwill of volunteers and donations from local people.  

We have been heartened by the numerous offers of help.  We want to make sure that these amazing offers are taken up and used to the best effect for all refugees and asylum seekers who find themselves in the Bradford District.  This appeal is to raise money to enable the groups to continue to provide this much needed support and underpin the Bradford District as a City of Sanctuary.

Money donated will be given to asylum seeker and refugee support groups to distribute to refugees to pay for food, shelter and clothing. 

Money donated will also help link asylum seekers and refugees with local people and to participate in community activities. 

The Bradford District Community Fund (BDCF) is a registered charity that raises money and then distributes it, in the form of grants, to local community projects and charities throughout the Bradford District. We support a wide range of community projects - supporting the young and the old and all ages in between; providing funding for ongoing activities, one-off projects or special events.  We have achieved so much in such a short period of time but we still have a long way to go.  Please help BDCF to get the support it needs to change people's lives.

Just for clarity BDCF are operating under the charity banner of the Leeds Community Foundation and can guarantee that any funds raised will remain in the Bradford District, benefiting local people.
