In 2014 our kids (at that time it was only Sawyer) lost their Grandfather to ALS. Sawyer, our oldest is the only one who got to meet Grandpa John. We also learned that year that there is a 50/50 chance that Darrin has the gene and if he has it - he has a 50/50 chance of passing it on. Needless to say life has really changed for our family since 2014.

Many people could say it was a horrible thing that happened. However, we happen to think that this all happened for a reason - to help other families gather to honor and remember their loved ones. You see, this year 2019 will be the 6th annual ALS Steps for Hope Awareness Run/Walk - John Braun Memorial. In these 6 years we have met dozens of families who have been impacted by ALS. We have hugged, cried with, and shared stories with all of them. We have watched them share their stories with other families, make connections with others along the same journey, and enjoy the support of their friends and family. It's together that we work to raise funds so other families won't have to travel the same path we have all been on - the one impacted by ALS. We are joining together so the next generations don't have to worry about how ALS will change their lives.

At the end of the day it isn't about the number of participants we had, or the amount of money we raised. It is about the impact our event has on the lives of those who have been affected, will be affected, and those who won't have to be affected by ALS. That is why we continue to raise funds for ALS Research - to provide hope for future generations!!!
