Running 26.2 miles is a ridiculous thing to be doing on an Autumn Sunday morning but in an age of real strain on health and social care and a funding crisis, the Alzheimer's Society does its best to help all those affected by this cruel disease.

Nearly quarter of all men and a third of all women in the UK will get dementia.  Chances are you've got your own experience or link to the illness and, if you have , I don't have to explain how heartbreaking it can be.

Please think of all those miles I've been putting in for weeks and months, think of the support, care and advice that this charity provides, dig deep and give what you can.
