Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

I will be running in memory of my Mam Rhoda Pearce and more recently my Cousin David Townsley who both passed away to this awful disease.

I am asking all you lovely peeps  to support  me once again this my 8th GNR.

Every penny will be matched pound for pound by Barclays Bank.

Sepsis accounts for 52,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast cancer, bowel cancer and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is the acute bodily reaction to infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

“What is sepsis? Your support can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
