This years walk, I believe, is of huge significance.
It marks the 30th anniversary of the very 1st walk / pilgrimage that my father Larry & brother Michael made on Easter Monday in 1986 !
No one could have predicted that, that 1st walk / pilgrimage from Leeds to York, would be the beginning of an annual, arduous & spirit lifting tramp across country & tarmacadam that has been done EVERY Easter Monday since that first one in 1986.
There are lots of people that have done the walk over the past 29yrs and there is an ever present group of individuals ( hardcore lol ) for whom it is a given that Easter Monday means walking to York.
That said there is literally only 1 person that has walked every single Easter Monday since 1986 and that man is my father Larry Jordan.
Sadly my father passed away in May of 2015. 11 days before his 81st birthday. He was an inspiration to so many and has left an amazing legacy of Faith and selflessness behind him.
For him the walk was very much a pilgrimage of faith. It was only as an after thought, several years after 1986, he decided that perhaps a charity could benefit from his endeavour. The old Killingbeck Children's Heart Hospital was the 1st to benefit from the walk. After the closure of Killingbeck he decided that St.Gemma's Hospice should be the chosen charity and over more recent years it has been Marin House Children's Hospice.
Please feel free to sponsor. 30 yrs ! Every step a prayer.
