Story

The 1st Brentwood School Triathlon.

Ever since I started at Brentwood School one of my ambitions was to organise a Triathlon and to try and get as many people involved with this as possible. I became involved with Triathlon after competing in several races and wanted to raise its profile among my fellow students at the school. In doing so, it has allowed me to raise money for an amazing charity: Home-start.

I became aware of Home start after my mum started working with them as a volunteer two years ago. Home-start started in 1973, it is a nationwide charity helping families with young children, supporting parents and families who may be struggling with postnatal depression, isolation, health problems, bereavement and many other issues. Home-start works because all their volunteers are parents and they understand how hard it can be, they work alongside parents in their own homes, to help them cope and make sure they have the confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.

Last year alone Home-start supported 60,000 children in 30,000 families across the UK. I've chosen this charity because it is very close to my family and I believe it to be a worthwhile cause, it also relies heavily on donations from people to fund their work with parents and children and any donation would go a long way.

The Triathlon is only available to Students and Teachers of Brentwood School, and the distance makes is available to all age groups. If you're interested in taking part email 10moorea@brentwood.essex.sch.uk with your first and last name, age, year group, and School House.
