Story
Hi all
My name is Bret Parker. I'm a plasterer by trade and a triathlete on the side. This year I had planned to partake in numerous sporting events, from the Barcelona Marathon to the Bolton Ironman.
As with so many others at the moment my movements have been restricted. But I'm very lucky to live in an area where myself and my family have a little more freedom than most. Just behind my house we have open countryside and right on my doorstep is Turton FC's Homeground .
The Chairman of Turton, Peter Gray has kindly given me permission to use the club's ground to run a marathon around. So at 7am on Saturday the 18th of April 2020 , I'm going to run the shortest, longest event of my life. A full Marathon. Because of my proximity to the club, I will never need to be further than 200metres from my home.
There are so many of our key workers having to deal with unprecedented situations at the moment I just wanted to give something back. I hope you will help me to show appreciation for their sacrifice. Give whatever you can ,even a penny can make a difference.
I chose Bolton Hospice because they took care of two very good friends of mine in their last few days, Gary and Chris. When times are at there lowest, these guys are there for you and know just what to do . Absolutely fantastic people, like all those in the caring profession.
Please help to make a difference
Thank you
