Hello there,
My name is Brian Seatter-Wilson, and I’d like to share with you a little bit about the amazing transformation that has taken place in my life over the past 18 months; and how you may be able to help others like me who are desperate for a second chance at life.
Many men have been set free from the shackles of addiction and given a new start in life through the rehabilitation programme at The Haven Kilmacolm where 16 of us received our graduation certificates last year. The Haven is a wonderful rehab set in beautiful surroundings in kilmacolm (near Greenock, Scotland), and is a place where men whose lives have been destroyed through addictions, and wrong choices come to not only get set free from drugs and alcohol addiction, but to regain a sense of self respect and hope for a future.
18 months ago I was hooked on drugs and gambling. I came to The Haven in September 2020, and since then my physical and mental health have improved dramatically. I am now employed at The Haven as a part time Project Worker; I have a car; I volunteer at an outreach centre; I’m settled into a good local Church and my relationships are restored with my family. I am so grateful for the changes I’ve seen in my life that I’m resolved to help others in the same boat I was in to get better and become the best version of themselves they can be. My Mum has got her son back; my Daughter has a Dad she can rely on and look up to again; my Sisters have their Brother in their lives again; and my nieces and nephews are getting birthday cards from Uncle Brian again. After the changes have taken place in the mens lives they can look in the mirror without shame and guilt staring back at them; and with your help we can give them a great start to their new lives by encouraging fitness and health.
Health and fitness play huge part in men's overall recovery; and it is deeply on our heart to be able to help provide this facility to all future residents who come through The Haven; which is why we’ve decided to do this 10K run; as a way of trying to raise the money needed to enable us to build a good gym.
The actual building of the gym from scratch will be a great project for the men to be involved in, and will help them to gain invaluable experience in construction. The main thing though is that the new gym will contribute to the transformation of hundreds of men’s lives for years to come.
Thank you for your kindness.
