Why Teesside Dementia Link Services.

Having lost both my parents to Dementia I know first hand how this awful condition can impact not only on the person diagnosed with it but all the family.

Thankfully  my wife Carole and I were assisted on 'Our Journey' by Gail and Mark from Teesside Dementia Link Services. They have a tremendous combined knowledge of this condition appertaining to the health aspect, services available, legislation and help for carers.

They are a grassroots charity, providing 38 different services to those affected by Dementia. It is important to them to keep people living in the community for as long as possible, enjoying life and having fun. For carers they are there to offer support and care, assisting them cope with this devastating disease. Their approach to care is a relationship model, which helps people feel part of a wider family and community.

TDLS will stay with you the whole journey - you leave them, They will never leave you.

For the last two years the North East Scooter Club  have created an annual challenge that is open to both Scooter Clubs and Motorcycle Clubs. The challenge sees monies donated to various charities.

A significant change this year is that riders can collect for the main charity or one of their own choice. My choice is Teesside Dementia Link Services.

A local group the organisers of which do not take any wages and put all monies received into local North East projects and not towards organisation wages.

This year the number of locations to visit on the Challenge has been reduced to 200 and are to be confined to the North East. The event will run from the 1st May until the end of October so plenty of time to visit the locations.

Entrance fees have been reduced to £10 per rider and this amount  will go to Zoë's Baby Hospice at Middlesbrough.

A team consists of four members.

I have just registered and will be collecting for Teesside Dementia Link Services.
