We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

This year, I had planed to Sail Around Britain again to raise valuable monies for both a charity and in the name of a person close to my heart, George Peggie Senior.

When George died, I couldn't make his funeral.  All donations on this day were raised for RNLI, and this is my way of being able to contribute where I couldn't before.

Obviously and regrettably due to current circumstances this has had to be postponed for now.

However as one door closes another one opened in the form of a call for help, to do a transatlantic sail from St Maarten in the Caribbean to rescue a boat before hurricane season hits for one of the Yacht Racing Sailing Academies in the solent. This was a tough decision for me given everything that is going on right now but too good an opportunity to refuse.

I will be leaving the UK on 9th June, sailing West to East across the Atlantic which is no mean feat. This will be over 4000 miles of upwind sailing which will be 5-6 weeks at sea and will be by far my biggest sailing challenge.

The RNLI risk their lives every day to help people who get into trouble at sea.  They rely purely on donations to run this voluntary organisation.  I feel at this time whilst there is very little fundraising being done and with this organisation being stretched even further given current events, that I would still go ahead to raise as much money as I can.

Please give as little or as much as you can to help support this selfless charity.

Thank you

Brian

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
