Goodwheel 2017 · 27 March 2017

2,500 disabled, most of them children, whose bodies have been shattered by serious illness and terrorist activity are rehabilitated through sports programs at the Israel Sport Centre for the Disabled.Funded almost entirely by charitable donations, the Centre desperately needs wheelchairs, essential rehabilitative equipment and support for specific projects.

Story

Will we never learn? Yes, we are once again about to cycle hundreds of miles for Friends of Israel Sport Centre for the Disabled (FISCD). This time with addition of our new team member, Sarah Morgan.

We are hoping to raise £20,000 for urgently needed replacement wheelchairs for the very youngest children.

“Goodwheel 2017” is taking place between 27th and 30th March, riding
through the Western Negev, Southern Dead Sea and Mount Sodom, the Yatir Forest, Arad to He’etekim Crag and to the North of the Dead Sea.  There is the long route, which is over 380 kilometres, and the short route (which Brian will be taking) of only 240 kilometres. (Or as Brian says, not so short!)

It is impossible to stress enough the inspiration of the Sport Centre. Through sport and nurturing, it helps physically or mentally damaged children to become self-confident, self-sufficient and active members of society.

Brian has been involved for over 40 years and watched as tiny nursery children, almost unable to move, are turned into thriving adults. Nathan has been actively involved for over nine years and now this inspiration has been passed to Rod and soon to Sarah.

Neither religion, colour nor creed is a barrier to the Centre’s rehabilitation services. The Centre is dependent on donations for 99% of their budget.

Please support us and donate through Just Giving, which is safe and easy, and if possible use the gift aid, which will add 28% to your donation.
