#TeamStroke Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2022 · 28 May 2022 to 29 May 2022 ·

Every five minutes, stroke destroys lives. You can help rebuild them by joining #TeamStroke in taking on a challenge in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2022!

Story

In 2019 I developed blurred vision, and was diagnosed with something called Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischaemic Optic Neuropathy (remember that, there will be a test at the end). It was suspected that this had been caused by an arterial clot.

Thus began a suite of tests to determine if I may be at increased risk of stroke, or may even have already had previous stroke events.  I got the all-clear, though I'm not sure the doctors would be thrilled that I took up marathon running to celebrate the news.

I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon 2022 for #TeamStroke.  There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.  Stroke Association believes everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. Your support will help them to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care, and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
