Story
On 7 July 2018, a small group of us are cycling from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle to the Forth Road Bridge outside Edinburgh in a single day - a distance of about 170 miles!
We would like to raise £10,000 for our local foodbank - Renfrewshire Foodbank.
In the autumn, the universal credit benefit will be rolled out across Renfrewshire and unfortunately a significant increase in people needing the foodbank is forecast in line with what has been seen in other parts of the UK.
This is because hundreds of claimants and their families are expected to experience cash flow hardship as they transition to the new benefit payment system.
The movie "I Daniel Blake" movingly highlighted how families and individuals through no fault of their own can fall upon desperate times as they navigate through the benefits system.
