Climbing Mount Snowdon · 23 May 2019

We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Willen Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, the physical and emotional effects of both their illness and treatments.

We are a group of 5 students, 3 of which are going to challenge themselves with our teachers (Miss Mansfield & Miss Sale), to climb Mount Snowdon in order to raise money for Willen Hospice.

We attend a school called Bridge Academy, it is an alternative provision, which works closely with all mainstream schools in Milton Keynes to reduce an absolute minimum number of secondary permanent exclusions.

As part of our Project Based Learning subject (PBL), we decided we wanted an enormous challenge and what better way to do it than a 6 - 8 hour walk up Mount Snowdon.  We have visited Willen Hospice and gained an understanding of how they support people with life limiting illnesses.  We also discovered that the hospice needs £4.9 million every year, which equates to £9 every minute.

We would really appreciate any donation you are able to make and we have set ourselves a target of hopefully raising £1000.  Please help us to reach our target for such a great cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story
