Brighton Marathon 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·

We are honoured to be able to support patients with life-limiting illnesses & their families, providing them with the care & support they need during difficult times. We have to raise over £1.95 million each year to continue to provide our services to care for our patients & their families.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On 8th January 2019 I lost my Dad, Terry to lung and bone cancer. He was 56 years old.

Dad spent his final few weeks being looked after by the amazing staff at the 'Primrose at the Princess' unit, based at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove. Whilst unfortunately he did pass in their care, they at least ensured that his final days were spent in relative comfort and afforded him the dignity that was so important to him.

Following Dad's passing, the staff at the Primrose continued to provide support and guidance on what needed to happen next, but also allowed us the time and space to grieve. They really are an amazing organisation and well worth anyone's support.

I wanted to do something to contribute to the Primrose Hospice as they rely heavily on donations in order to continue to function, and so I set myself the goal of running a marathon this year.

Whilst I've not run a marathon before, I've also decided on a sub 4 hour target time. It's ambitious... but a tough challenge will keep me motivated.

I'll be heading down to Brighton in April with some friends to run the marathon on Sunday the 19th. Training started 9 days ago - its a 16 week course in all. I've done 7 runs so far in this time for a total of 30 miles. Unfortunately the training only gets harder!!

I and the Primrose Hospice would be most grateful for any support you can spare.

I intend to keep this page regularly updated with a training log every week so you can track my progress.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
