In April 2026 I am running my first marathon to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. As a cause extremely close to my heart, I am not only running this event to support my dad and grandad in their fight against prostate cancer, but also to honour my beloved family members who are unfortunately no longer with us due to their own personal battles with cancer. To my Grandma Sheila, Aunty Caroline, and Uncle Paul, this is all in memory and love for you.

Prostate Cancer UK engage in essential research in diagnostics, treatment, and disease immunology, with the aim to stop prostate cancer limiting men's lives. Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes, and by 2030 it’s set to become the most common cancer in the UK. We need to take urgent action now; together, we can contribute towards better diagnosis, smarter treatments, and more robust and informed data, to take the fight to and ruffle the feathers of prostate cancer. As a keen runner, I've already worked towards PBs in events from 5k to half-marathon distance, and although the marathon is an unknown beast, it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by those with cancer and their loved ones around them. I look forward to taking on the training, and smashing the event head first, all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, and in honor and memory of my loved ones who will be by my side, every step of the way.

Together, we can make a difference. May our hope be stronger than fear. Let’s do it for our loved ones, fathers, brothers, uncles, granddads, mates, geezers, lads, fellas, chaps, pals, gents, and men across the world.
