At YMCA Brighton, we support the local people of Brighton and Hove to belong, contribute and thrive, in a consistent effort to reduce homelessness and increase wellbeing.

Story

Being chairman of this association ; I am lucky to watch a lot of football including my own sons - recently the weather has changed it’s darker it’s colder and it’s wetter. Whenever I’ve finished watching football I have a certain solace that I know I’ll be at home soon in the warmth- but for many of our young city’s homeless people they won’t or can’t look forward to that basic human right. I am empowering the young people (players) and our coaches in my care in the association to give something back and sponsor 50 rooms for two months into the New Year therefore helping at least 50 of our city’s young people and giving them a flicker of hope and knowledge that someone cares!  Please help where you can .

In Brighton it’s hard to walk down the street without seeing someone who’s homeless. In 2017 Brighton had the 2nd largest homeless population in England. 80% of homeless people report a mental health issue, this combined with physical ill-health creates a desolate situation. Brighton YMCA knows that providing a roof over someone's head is not enough. We provide accommodation and wrap-around services (support, counselling and employment services) to prevent the revolving door of homelessness; empowering people to achieve their goals.
