Amy, my sister ran the Brighton marathon last April. I stood on the sidelines supporting her and being so proud. So I decided that I wanted to do it myself. So on the 7th of April 2024 I will be running the Brighton Marathon for the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity very close to my heart as my grandad has Dementia and Alzheimer. My grandad was diagnosed with Dementia about 8 years ago. Unfortunately in the past 18 months the illness had progressed and Grandad is now living in a residential care home where he is being looked after 24/7 by the amazing nurses and doctors. He is one of the funniest, most thoughtful and caring people you could ever meet and always puts everyone else before himself. I’m forever grateful for all the memories we made as a family with my grandad and continue to make. Every time I visit my grandad I cherish every single moment and when I catch a glimpse of my grandad being my grandad it is so so special. I am running this marathon for my Grandad who is my best friend and for anyone or any other families that are or have been affected by dementia or Alzheimers.
