STOP PRESS 1: After just 14 days I reached target #1 so I’ve upped it ten-fold: I am now setting a target of 10p for each Marathon meter: £4,219.50!

STOP PRESS 2: On Good Friday, I collapsed unconscious during a half marathon race at Westonbirt House. I spent a week in hospital and am still recovering from severe heat stroke and liver failure. I am unable to continue running at present while I recover, so my challenge is on hold - perhaps now indefinitely...

I will continue to fundraise for DAWG until I reach the target! That challenge is not beyond me, and I'll find a new challenge to get there... Watch this space!!!

Bristol DAWG is a non-profit Greyhound and Lurcher rescue charity devoted to saving and re-homing dogs in need. Many are ex-racing  greyhounds, suffering terrible welfare conditions, but rescued by DAWG they are given the love and care to recover and find their forever homes.

Greyhounds are incredible companions – Great with children and other animals, they are gentle and placid by nature, full of character, and lazy to the bone!

I’m training to run a Marathon… at night… on my birthday… in the Arctic Circle! I run at night. It’s usually cold, often wet, and always dark. I’m always exhausted. In fact, the conditions are just like those experienced by many racing greyhounds. The only difference is I’m forcing myself to do this! Racing dogs don’t get a choice.

Before I run, my first challenge is to raise just 1 penny for each meter of the Marathon: £421.95.
