Brewin Dolphin Bristol - Supporting Dorothy House

We want to raise money for our office nominated charity of the year Dorothy House, who help provide care and support for patients with a life-limiting illness.
The Brewin Dolphin Bristol office have chosen to support Dorothy House as their charity of the year after their incredible care for my mum in the final weeks of her life in March 2020. They provided help and support during a very difficult time. Respecting Mum's wishes to keep her at home during her final days meant round the clock care, and the help that Dorothy House gave us with that made the emotional and physical challenge easier to bear. They treated Mum with dignity, with respect, and made sure the entire family felt less alone. We want to give back to them to say thank you.
We're currently working on our final challenge of the year and aiming to hit our target for £8,595 raised. We plotted a route from Mum's house to visit some of her favourite places, combined with a few that she never got to visit.
Starting near Bath, we've made it to Bowness on Windermere for some ice cream, to Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh for a rest in the shade, down past York Minster and to Covent Garden to wander round the market. We then crossed the Channel to visit Monet's gardens at Giverny and are now on our way down to Lyon for some sushi by the river.
We will finish the challenge on the island of Murano, famous for their glass work. Mum was a keen stained glass artist and loved Venetian glass, and always wanted to visit. A fitting place to stop after covering 2,848km.
So far our challenges to date have included the Miles for Smiles October Challenge, raising a phenomenal £2,650. In February we worked to show 2021 who's boss by running, walking, and cycling 2021km during the month, and raising a staggering £2,060 towards our target. Over the first May bank holiday weekend, the ladies from the Bristol and Cheltenham offices took part in the Captain Tom 100 challenge and covered 100 km between them. They raised an amazing £1,150 in the process. Phil Peat attempted to cycle the Mendip Spider in one epic ride on one of the hottest days of the year. He accepted defeat after 9 hours, 13 hills, 130km, and 3000m of climbing (three times the height of Snowdon!) having consumed 7 litres of liquid in the process... He raised an incredible £970, and still has his knees, which is an extra bonus!
Over the course of the year we're hoping to raise £8,595 for Dorothy House - the running costs for a day. We're 90% of the way there - help us to keep moving towards our target!
