At the age of 17, despite an athletic and extremely healthy lifestyle, Murray Stewart was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) was there from the beginning, and cared for Murray through 3 diagnostic operations, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy until he entered remission in April 2016. After this, he had checkups every 6 months, and TCT were waiting to help him every time. Murray was a volunteer member of the National Managed Network for Children & Young People with Cancer in Scotland with which TCT work alongside.

Unfortunately, the cancer developed, and Murray passed away at the end of November 2019. One of the last comments he made when asked about the message he would want heard regarding cancer in young people, he said 'Cancer does happen to young people' and therefore we can see 'how valuable and needed the charity is', highlighting the 'positive experience I had in the TCT ward and the brilliant staff and volunteers'

In Murray's memory, and to spread the importance of this charity for young people, Bristol Lacrosse is going to run the Bristol 10K in support of this fantastic charity, to raise awareness in young people, and money for TCT
