I've created this page because I want to make a difference. As Membership Director of the Downtown Family YMCA, I am inspired everyday by the work of the YMCA of Greater Louisville. Everyday I see firsthand how the funds raised through the the YMCA Annual Giving Campaign supports the Y’s mission “to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.”  

According to greaterlouisvilleproject.org, “households downtown and in Old Louisville garner a media wage of only $17,800.”  Meaning that in order for us to remain accessible “for all”, we depend on the generosity of our staff, members, volunteers, donors, and community to support our financial assistance based “Membership for All” program. Households that make up to $65,000/year can qualify for 10% to 40% off of joining fees and monthly membership dues. For individuals and families going through financial hardships there’s a possibility of “extra help” available as well.  

In this past year, as individuals have lost jobs or as they’ve had to prioritize their finances differently in order to provide for their basic needs, the Y has been able to remain accessible “for all.”  At least once a day, someone tells me how grateful they are that the Y is able to keep their doors open and remains a place to support both their mental and/or physical health.  Our financial assistance based membership allows us to support even more people on a daily basis.

There are three ways I support the Y’s Mission:  through the work I do as a Membership Director,  by donating to the YMCA Annual Campaign and by raising money as part of my participation in the YMCA Annual Campaign.
