I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for The Brandon Trust, a charity which supports people with learning disabilities, helping them to live fuller lives as part of their local communities. The trek will take seven days starting in the hot African plains, working up through jungle and barren high plateau to the freezing glacial peak. This is a very challenging climb as the change in altitude is one of the quickest possible on foot. The body has very little time to adjust so the risk of altitude sickness is considerable. Temperatures of -35 degrees celsius and wind speeds of up to 75mph at the summit add to the trial. It will all be worth it though to see these young people living independantly, getting trained at college and even getting their first job with the help of The Brandon Trust.
