On 5th April 2019 I embarked and managed to get to Everest Base Camp sleeping in a one man tent in aid of Harmeny's Learning for Life Appeal. This gruelling trek tested me both physically and mentally and involved a series of climbs over three weeks to reach Base Camp at 18,000 feet (5,500 metres). Once I Arrives at base camp I had to be evacuated by helicopter as I was very ill due to lung condition and I have now been in a Kathmandu hospital for 5 days receiving heart and lung tests and will be here for, well I don’t know.
The trip was completely self funded so your donations will go straight to supporting the work of Harmeny.
If you can donate any amount, I Would be extremely grateful.
I done this because I believe that this cause is worthwhile. Through our work and personal experience, we have all encountered the damaging effects that tough home lives and abuse can have on the early years of children. We see this trek as an opportunity to support a charity that for over 50 years has set out to do something about it.
Enduring hardship should only be a part of an adult life and within situations of our chosen paths, not when we are children. so as to help to alleviate the battles of children found in unsafe situations by no fault of their own! Bruce
