Geneva to Nice cycle, 500 miles, 45000 feet to climb · 14 June 2015

Story

To help raise much needed funds a group of MAMILs (Middle Aged Men In Lycra) are attempting a very challenging bike ride. Not just one day up few big mountains in the Alps but five consecutive days, each day a monumental challenge it self. We intend to cycle from Geneva to Nice in June this year.  This is about 500 miles and 45,000 (yes thousands!) vertical feet to climb on a bicycle, that is almost the same as cycling to the top of Mount Everest from base camp, every day for 5 days!

There are about 20 of us, some fit & fast, some fat & fatigued, most of us are in the middle. We will need to train hard over the next 4 month, often 10 hours a week, and that's after a full days work.

So join us or support us. Our goal is to raise over 50k, for 'A Smile for Orly', supporting the Childrens Hospital in Manchester. Orly was a friends daughter who lost her life last year to cot death.

Please dig deep and give what you can, this will help inspire us to get to the end, while going through pain, sweat  & no doubt exhaustion for the 50 or so hours of cycling on this most memorable ‘adventure’.

The trip is self pay, so all of your donation goes straight to the charities. We are all raising together (same pot) so no need to sponsor more than one of us if you’ve been asked by someone else. Early donations will certainly help us stay motivated during training.

Thanks again for your small or hopefully big support.

Bruce
