I'm taking on this challenge to stop a disease that takes the lives of nearly 12,000 women every year. My daughter, Cathy, starts her gruelling ordeal of chemotherapy week commencing 22nd Feb, with all the emotional and physical trauma that the process will and does involve.

I am going to participate in the 100 mile Ride London/Surrey bike event at the end of July to try to raise as much money as possible to go towards research into finding a cure for breast cancer. Feb 20th and I have just been for a 14 mile bike ride but the training will start in earnest on the 14th March with 20 weeks to go.

Meanwhile I will keep this story posted with both Cathy's and my progress.
