*** BARCLAYS TREASURY RAISES £25,000 !!! ***
FANTASTIC NEWS! - On 19th October we were able to present a cheque to Jessica Penney of ASPIRE for the staggering sum of £25,000. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters who have so generously donated to our charity challenge this year.
We felt that our target of £20,000 was extremely ambitious, but to be able to beat is truly amazing.
A huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible from everyone at Barclays Treasury and ASPIRE.

*** BARCLAYS TREASURY 'IRONMAN' 2005 !!! ***
During the week beginning 26th September 2005, all 100 members of the Barclays Treasury Team will be competing in a 'virtual' triathlon, based on 3 of London's most famous sporting events:
- ROW: The University Boat Race (6.8km)
- CYCLE: London to Brighton... and back! (180km)
- RUN: The London Marathon (42.2km)
....in sequence, without a break!
5 teams, over 5 days will each complete (and compete in!) the challenge, based at Barclays HQ in Canary Wharf, utilising a Concept 2 rowing machine, Static Bike and Treadmill.
That's 5 days, 5 teams, 5 Ironmans...!
WHY? We want to raise TWENTY THOUSAND POUNDS for ASPIRE, in order to finance the conversion of a fully adapted house, suitable for use by a person with spinal injury when they leave hospital, in order to carry on their lives, and do all the things that most of us take for granted. ASPIRE receive NO Government funding, and are reliant on the generosity of individuals to finance their wonderful work.
BARCLAYS WILL MATCH EVERYTHING RAISED ON A £ FOR £ BASIS!!!
ASPIRE is a truly fantastic charity - this year's Treasury Charity event is inspired by Paula Craig (pictured), who suffered a spinal injury in a cycling accident in 2001. Through her determination and the support of ASPIRE, she has gone on to achieve incredible feats - including being the only female to have completed the London Marathon as an able-bodied and wheelchair athlete. Paula was awarded the MBE for Services to the Metropolitan Police in the 2005 New Year's Honours List.
Paula, along with Jessica Penney from ASPIRE, gave a presentation to Treasury staff in June this year. We were so inspired; we immediately increased our target by 50%!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the event: ASPIRE will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
