Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Bud's Run in aid of Parkinson's UK is a fundraising initiative that Becky along with other members of the Baldaro family set up in 2014, following the diagnosis of Bud Baldaro (Becky's Dad) with Parkinson's disease.  The initiative has to date involved an annual 5k fun run and three charity dinners.  Four years on and we're travelling north from our usual event location - the University of Birmingham - to the stunning Yorkshire Dales.

This year we're setting our sights on a new challenge - the Yorkshire Three Peaks and with a fundraising target of £10,000 we're keen for you to grab your walking boots and join us for a ramble, walk or even run.  Monies raised by the Bud's Run initiative and its supporters fund vital research into Parkinson's disease.

Becky has never had the opportunity to get involved in the events but thanks to the organisation of this event by hubbie Gav and Carnegie Great Outdoors, it's finally possible to participate in a challenge to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

Becky will be walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks along with family and friends.  Millie (aged 6) will be tackling the first Peak Pen-y-ghent with Granny and Becky at her side.  Please sponsor us!   It's going to be an adventure....

1 in every 500 people has Parkinson's disease in the UK and this figure is likely to rise. Every hour two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's disease. There is currently no cure.  Research is integral to identifying a cure.  In the past four years Bud's Run has raised just under £70,000.  This has enabled us to fund a research project looking at movement and mobility in those suffering with the disease.  The project was commissioned by Parkinson's UK and led by Dr Ned Jenkinson at the University of Birmingham.  We need more of these projects and you can help us.

We'd love for you to join us on 19 May 2018 to raise funds to support further research into Parkinson's disease.  If you enjoy walking, talking and or fancy a challenge then sign up today.  Why not see if any friends will join you?  Any monies you raise can be added to this page or you can set up your own and link it to our page.   Further information can be found at: www.budsrun.co.uk
