Ashok Ali, was unfortunately paralysed unable to provide for his family. Their living conditions came to light following a random encounter with his wife and one of our volunteers, while she was trying to raise funds for her husbands surgery. While we were able to help arrange his medical aid, unfortunately Ashok passed away at the age of just 33.
Their former home, made from bamboo and clay required constant upkeep as the clay can crack under the heat and slowly gets washed away with rain. The family’s only source of income was from his wife doing local domestic work, while raising 3 young children as a single mother. Struggling for daily bread, basic shelter was far from reach.
Thanks to your generous donation Ashok's wife and kids moved into their new home in January 2021, but there are hundreds like him across the village and neighboring villages that are in desperate need for basic shelter built from bamboo and tin.

A local NGO in Dargapasha, Bangladesh has built 2 homes for the most needy within their village. Zam Zam Charitable Trust aims to support this initiative with this campaign and will take full ownership, to deliver similar homes in the same village where there is a desperate need for basic housing.
Our local field teams will identify those that are in the greatest need, before making applications to local authorities with budgets and plans for approval. This includes a full audit upon completion to ensure your generous donation are used for the intended purpose.
