Help us to put another brick in the wall and then to raise the roof before too long!
PROJECT PERU started some new building work during July-August 2005. This will eventually allow us to take in more children and help us to prepare them for more independent living when they leave our care.
During July-August 2005 we had both funds and hard labour from a group of over 30 students via RAF Cranwell, through the UK Universities Air Squadrons. They worked mainly on building both a multi-purpose sports pitch, and the ground floor of new dormitory/living accommodation. see photos on http://www.projectperu.org.uk/Images/Building2005/index.html
This work formed the community service part of their trip; it was followed by an expedition in the Cuzco area.
The second stage of the work that had been started on the new dormitory / living accommodation was finished by our architect and his team during the period January-March 2006 , with the completion of the walls of the second storey and the roof of this new 2 storey dormitory /living accommodation block.
Building work will restart on the third stage in April 2006. Stage 3 and beyond calls for more funding to complete all internal work on this new block, and also for the replacement of the former administration block to provide new administration space, classrooms, workshops, rooms for volunteers, dining room, kitchen etc.
We have used some of the funds we have raised ourselves for this building work, and will put the funds we have received from the Discovering Latin America [DLA] Film Festival held in London 24 November - 4 December 2005 ; DLA selected Project Peru as the charity it was supporting in 2005; see http://discoveringlatinamerica.com/dlaff/index.php...
... but we still have a big shortfall; please sponsor further work by donating through this page, so we can finish it
see http:// www.projectperu.org.uk for more details of all we do.
Gracias!
