Story

Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.

Some of you may already know, but for those of you who don’t, both my Mum and Dad were diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Having one parent diagnosed with cancer was difficult, but to have both was an especially trying time for me and my family.

Whilst we tried to understand and come to terms with what we were dealing with, we received wonderful support from the Macmillan Cancer Support team.

I knew that I wanted to do something to give back for the support they gave us so I got in touch with Andy McClarty who is a local fundraiser for Macmillan. He advised me that many charities including Macmillan are down in donations this year due to Covid-19.

Restricted by what we could do due to ongoing social distancing requirements, we came up with the idea to plant bulbs to create a lasting flower display that would be seen by all traveling through Garvagh.

So come join Andy and me to help plant daffodil and crocus bulbs at the entrance to Rectory Park in Garvagh on Saturday 28th November between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. It will stand as a lasting reminder every spring for those who are fighting cancer, those who have loved ones affected by cancer, and for the Macmillan nurses who are there to support us during difficult times.

A donation to the charity in lieu of the bulbs would be very much appreciated.

If you are unable to make it on the day but would like to be involved, please make a donation and we will plant a bulb on your behalf.

If you want more information please contact me by phone at 07714422795 or via email at evarmstrong67@gmail.com.

Government Guidelines will be followed on the day and social distancing will be inforced.
