Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a player for Hamilton rugby club http://www.hamiltonrugbyclub.co.uk/ and we have player sponsors where the person/business who sponsors the player for the year gets 4 tickets to a 1XV game for that season along with their name in the programme/website/match day PowerPoint along with social media posts & the player gets their match/training kit for the year.

For the last few years I have paid for my own kit, but decided to do something different with my friends this year & we decided we would all chip in for the sponsorship. They would get the match tickets & i would get the kit. At the same time we would be able to raise awareness & hopefully some funding for the Brain Tumour Charity. This is a charity which means alot to us as we lost a friend/brother Andy Bent to it in in January 2018.

Rather than a link directly to their website, we decided to set up this just giving page to give a bit of background and the personal touch to our fundraising efforts.

I asked my good friend and Andy's brother David to write a little about Andy for this page & he asked that I say the following -

Andy was diagnosed with a rare Supratentorial Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumour in September 2015 at the age of just 30, he very bravely fought this for over 2 years (including 2 brain tumour removal operations, chemotherapy & radiotherapy) but sadly passed away on the 09th January 2018. He is very much missed by family and friends.

The statistics on brain tumour survival are incredibly poor to say the least and we want to raise funds to support the required research to ensure we can prevent other families going through the pain Andy’s have.
