Bunni Bishop FireFlies Patagonia 2022

The FireFlies PATAGONIA Tour 2022 · 3 March 2022 to 13 March 2022 ·
At 24 years old, a child’s worst fear came true. I lost the person who I had known since before I ever arrived in this world, my mom. Before the years of battling cancer, my mom was competing in a road bike race called “Race the Train”, she ended up falling and going to the hospital where she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She was only suppose to live another 5-6 weeks. But she prevailed another 4 years, till her last breath.
Less than 1 year after I lost one parent to this disease, my dad was also diagnosed with cancer. Naturally, my worst fear has resurfaced.
In honor of my mom who was a cyclist before she battled cancer, my dad who is currently fighting cancer & many other family & friends who have had to suffer through this terrible disease, I will be riding my bike (alongside 22 other riders) over 1000 km in only 1 week. We’re pushing our physical & mental limits across gravel roads, up volcanos, & through the Patagonia mountains with their names on our hearts.
We’re riding because there are still battles to be fought for & to honor our loved ones lost. Each rider with their own story, their own purpose. To represent the battle cancer patients endure, the FireFlies riders are challenging ourselves to take on the unknown. As riders, we won’t know our destination or distance until we’re told we can stop & until each rider has arrived together.
In addition to my ride, I’ve pledged to raise $2,500 in efforts to support cancer research. If you feel moved to donate, would you help contribute to this important cause & join me in the battle to beating cancer ? If you can’t donate, a share would go a long way.
If you read this far, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. This mission is so much more than a bike tour.
For those who suffer, we ride.
For you, mom. For dad. & so many more.
