Story

We have set up this page to support a young man who wants to help give back to the NHS. Kieran is 18, lives in Burgess Hill and is cheering up the locals doing his daily walks.

While self isolating Kieran has decided that he would do his daily walk dressed as Spiderman. He wanted to do it to cheer up the local children and give them something fun to look out for. It started off as just a walk but he now has a facebook group, where people can upload photos and put in requests for him to walk passed, he has found that it isn't just the kids looking out for him and cheering him on.

Kieran is now 18 and has been a fighter all of his life. Due to complications, he was born 8 weeks early and weighed only 4lb's. He was in hospital for his first 6 weeks and only a week later he was back in hospital in an oxygen tank, suffering from bronchiolitis and pneumonia. When he was 10 he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, gmfcs level 2, microcephaly, learning difficulties and anxiety. Subsequently the local community crowdfunded so that his mum could buy him a much loved trike.

Kieran has always been determined to put in everything he can to overcome the challenges that come his way; he stayed in mainstream schools and is currently studying Btech sport level 3 at Plumpton College. Earlier this year he went rock climbing in Snowdonia with his classmates.

Hospital appointments have been a large, and necessary, part of Kieren’s life and he feels this is the perfect way for him to give something back to both the local community and NHS. He feels that whatever contribution is raised he will have made a difference and helped the NHS at such a challenging time.

Kieran is an inspiration to many people and has a heart of gold. He came up with this idea, even though his conditions make him high risk to Covid-19, to help cheer people up and put smiles on children's faces. We have been amazed by the support Kieran has received and the number of people that have spotted him. We are organising people walking with Kieran, following government guidelines and keeping to 2 meters apart, to support him so that he can walk to areas he isn't familiar with.

Follow him on his Facebook we have a group and a page both called ‘Burgess Hill Spider-Man’
