Story
On Friday the 26th of August, I will be chopping off my locks and buzz-cutting my hair. Someone extremely important to me has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is now receiving chemotherapy at Bulstrode Oncology Unit at Guernsey's Princess Elizabeth Hospital. I will be cutting my hair in solidarity with them and in order to raise money for a fantastic, local charity. I have a lot of hair so I am hoping to raise a lot of money for this incredible cause. (To see pictures of my hair down and in the ponytails that will be donated, click the banner at the top of the page).
- All money raised will be donated to Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief - GSCR provide support to cancer sufferers by supplying items and services not provided by the Guernsey States under the Health and Social Services schemes. Head to www.cancerrelief.org.gg/support to see how donations can help those with cancer (and their families) in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
- All of my hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust - Little Princess Trust is a charity that make wigs for children suffering from hair loss (whether that is from cancer treatment or other conditions). They use real human hair that has been donated to make these wigs and provide children with a sense of 'normality' during a difficult time.Visit www.littleprincesses.org.uk to read more about the charity.
The buzzcut will be taking place at 8:30am on Friday the 26th of August at Guernsey Post. Although spectators cannot attend, I will be live-streaming the event for everyone to watch. As a postie, I have seen many colleagues and their families affected by cancer and I know they will be very supportive of me (some may even have the opportunity to cut some hair... watch this space).
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and donating (if you are able - I know times are tough right now!)
I will keep this page updated with live-streaming links and any further information.
