Story

Hey all, please please jump in and help me. I have been friends with Nikki Wheatley for 23 years, since she came to work with me when she was only 21 years old. I have witnessed some major events in her life, including meeting and marrying her husband Paul and the birth of their gorgeous daughter Ella (now aged 8), who is a little superstar. Nikki is one seriously awesome individual who I love and respect hugely.

After fighting Breast cancer back in 2019, Nikki then got diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in August 2021. This is where the cancer has spread to another part of the body and is very sadly incurable.

Nikki and her beautiful family use the services of a superb small charity called Future Dreams (more information below).

So, I am going to run the Brighton Marathon for Nikki and dedicate the sponsorship to this charity, which is very close to her heart.

Please please please dig deep and donate whatever you can. I promise I will give this my all. I am already heavily into my training and I will put everything I have got into completing the marathon.

Thanks for all your support for this amazing cause and for my lovely friend, Nikki. xxxx

Future Dreams is raising funds to support women through their breast cancer journey. FD works on a number of campaigns to create awareness and fund research projects, with a main focus on secondary breast cancer. Over 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year, the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes according to Breast Cancer Care. To date Future Dreams has raised over £5m pledging funds towards the charities three aims - support, awareness and research, focusing on secondary breast cancer.

About the charity

Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity provides practical and emotional support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, promotes breast health awareness and funds vital secondary breast cancer research. Future Dreams House in London is the only dedicated breast cancer support centre in the UK.
