Current Game Completion total #234

My mission is to complete all 234 licenced games that were released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the UK (known as the PAL-A region). I will only be using original hardware and games and playing on a CRT television. This allows me to utilise light gun games (which cannot be played on an LCD display). 

Those who remember or have experience with the NES library will know just how tough, unforgiving and often just plain unfair most of the games were back in this time (1986-1994), and I'm sure few will have completed many titles they played or owned as kids. This challenge is no mean feat, and unlike those who choose to play NES games now through emulation on various platforms such as Switch NES classics, with the original games THERE ARE NO SAVE STATES AVAILABLE!! (Save states allow a player to simply save the game whenever they want and start again from this point indefinitely, essentially making any game easy to beat with minimal patience). 

The rules for completion of each game vary, while most have a linear end point; some sport or arcade games may not have a specific end screen, meaning certain targets or parameters should be met before it can be considered complete. Equally some games may have multiple endings that can be achieved. My aim is to complete only the most accessible ending. It is simply a bonus to achieve a more desirable ending.

Why I chose Mental Health UK?

For much of my adult life I've suffered with Anxiety and struggled greatly at times to cope with my general life. Thanks to my wonderful wife and family I've been able to get to a place where I am better than I ever have been in years. It's made me realise that there is a light at the end of this and anything I can do to help others get there is worth it.
