Story
Hi, my name is Holly and I’ve signed up to take on the challenging Machu Picchu 6-day trek in 2027 in aid of the wonderful charity of Teenage Cancer Trust. My goal is to raise £4,590, and every donation, no matter how big or small, will help me get one step closer.
Almost everyone is impacted by cancer in their lifetime, whether it's through a personal experience or the hardship of seeing a loved one go through it. I have chosen to fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust because I really hope to make a big difference to a lot of young people's lives who are affected by cancer.
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer, while they receive no government funding. This means that it’s only thanks to donations from supporters that they can continue to be there for every young person who needs them.
Every few hours, a young person in the UK hears the words “you have cancer.” These words can change a person's life forever, as well as the lives of the people around them. You only get one chance at being young, and those crucial years will shape the person you become. Teenage Cancer Trust makes sure young people have someone in their corner right from the start.
Their specially trained nurses and youth workers walk alongside young people from diagnosis through every step of their treatment, and for up to two years afterwards, helping them recover and live life to the full.
Teenage Cancer Trust’s 28 purpose-built units within NHS hospitals provide spaces where young people can feel at home, meet others their age, and welcome friends and family, while being looked after by a dedicated team of specialists.
This six-day trek will undoubtedly challenge me, but having a purpose beyond myself — helping support young people with cancer — will give every step a greater purpose.
Every donation towards my target, big or small, would mean so much and be unbelievably appreciated to help support the incredibly important work Teenage Cancer Trust does for young people and their families.
Thank you so much for your support. It genuinely means a lot.
- Holly
